Joe Nolan, a writer and community activist, was born in 2001. He vividly recalls his childhood growing up in Willowbank. He speaks about the different periods of his working life. Joe spent over twenty years in the shipyard Harland and Wolff. His interest in camping and youth hostelling then led him to spend a number of years as a youth worker, and he then worked for the welfare department of the school board. He became involved in community work at the outbreak of the conflict and became a founding member of Falls Community Council. Joe died in 2005.
