Joe Cahill was born in 1920. He talks about his awareness of social injustice during the 30s and describes his decision to join the IRA. He speaks about his capture and imprisonment at the age of 21 after an IRA operation in which a policeman was killed. He speaks of the subsequent execution of his comrade Tom Williams and the impact of that on him. Joe recalls the outbreak of the conflict in Belfast in August 1969. He talks about the introduction of internment in 1971 and his response as OC of the Belfast Brigade of the IRA. Joe Cahill died in 2004.
